Summer Camp 2008 Daily Diaries
Camp Resolute - Bolton, MA
SUNDAY Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday
Friday, July 25th Troop 2 Diary:
Our final day.
Well it began with a wonderful reminder. Steve Rugoletti and Sean Riley (Troop 2 Eagle Scout and Camp Commissioner) treated the camp to a great rendition of "Oh What a Beautiful Morning!"
We have photos and movies to be published, so stay tuned as I get everything edited and up later this summer.
After that, it was the final polar bear swim and our final breakfast of the summer at camp. The Scouts then were off to their Merit Badge classes to wrap things up and the adults stayed in camp to break down the garages, temples of advancement (screen tents) and pack everything into the trailer.
All seemed to go well, and by noon we were done. Thanks go out to Mr. Crowley for coming into camp and taking the trailers out!
Then it was lunch time for all and the Scouts were then packing their own gear.
Tyler surprised us and entered the 1 mile swim. He did great and finished fine. Thanks to Cam for lifeguarding for him!
The adults split between supervising the packing and going off to the "paper party." This is where Mr. Bradley, Mr. Armata and myself tear out our hair as we reconcile all the advancement sheets we get and try to get all the badges and reports straightened out so we can hold our Court of Honor at 5:30 PM.
There were of course issues and a bit of confusion, but we got it in the end and had 18 advancements in rank and 90+ merit badges and other awards earned throughout the week. Nice job by all of those Scouts that came to camp!
We then had an enjoyable Court of Honor where the Scouts received their accolades. Mr. Armata said a few thanks to the adults that stayed in camp, those that helped with prep, and those that came in throughout the week to assist as we needed it. Special thanks to Mr. Pittsley, Mr. Bradley, Mr. Sobierajski, and Mr. Rugoletti for giving a week of their vacation and time to staying with the Scouts and providing such a great atmosphere for them to enjoy.

Mr. Pittsley then gave a nice presentation to our Scoutmaster Mr. Armata with some much deserved recognition. Yes I pick on Jack and post a few pictures of him sleeping throughout the week. But what people do not realize is that I have to really wait for those opportunities. I catch him napping because he only gets 5 or 6 hours of sleep in his bunk before he is up and off leading these Scouts. He really works very hard not only beforehand with the prep for equipment and activities, but also here during camp.
Jack is always the first one up, no matter how hard we try to get up before him. He is also the last one off to his bunk at night because no one can outlast him. He attended the Scoutmaster meetings every day of the week, walked camp to make sure everyone was where they were supposed to be and that every Scout had a great time. He attended several training sessions to ensure we had enough adults to go on future camp outs, handed out slushie coupons to Scouts for recognition of accomplishments throughout the week and keep us tied in to the leadership network at camp.
Jack... there is no way any of us deserves what you give, also no way which we can properly thank you other than just to let you know how much we really appreciate what you do and what you give to these Scouts.

After our Court of Honor it was off to the Chicken Dinner and then the Camp Fire. There we enjoyed some songs, skits and jokes from the staff before they recognized some Scouts and Adults from the week's events. Congrats to Chris, our SPL, who was chosen by his fellow Scouts as our Honor Camper for the week.
Congrats to the Hawks! Our team finished first in the Apache relay!
I have not seen that in all my years here with Troop 2. Great job!
After that, the camp fire program was closed and we shook hands and Thanked the Staff for another wonderful week at Resolute. Thanks boys for another great week of memories...
Good Bye all! Have a safe and serene rest of the summer!
See you all Thursday, September 4th at our First Troop Meeting of the fall, or the first Committee Meeting on Thursday, September 11th.
