The 21st World Scout Jamboree is scheduled to be held at the Hylands Park Chelmsford in Essex, England July 27th, 2007 through August 8th, 2007 for Scouts between the ages of 14 and 17. For the Scouts it will days packed full of shared adventure, discovery about the world, and service projects.

Scouts will greet sunrise on August 1st to the sound of the kudu horn in a linked series of Centenary Celebrations around the world, The day will continue as new friends are made, different cultures are shared and valued, and a world at peace starts to seem achievable.

August 1st, 2007 will indeed be special. That day everyone will awake early for a very special birthday. One hundred years ago that day on 1st August 1907, Robert Baden-Powell sounded the kudu horn to start an experimental camp for 22 boys on Brownsea Island.

Brownsea will be a leading focal point of celebrations in 2007, particularly on 1st August 2007 with Scouting’s Sunrise. Centenary Activities during 2007 on Brownsea Island will include:

In Scouting’s Sunrise around the world, Scouts have been renewing their Scout Promise. As dawn breaks, giant video screens will show the live satellite link with Brownsea Island, where two Scouts from nearly every country will be camping together in a practical demonstration of “One World, One Promise”.

The day will continue at the Jamboree with an international street party, and around the world with celebrations by 28 million Scouts to echo the kudu horn 100 years ago.
