Troop Meeting Information

• Below you will announcements, news and information from our Troop Meetings.
• Should you have any questions regarding a Troop Meeting, please contact our ScoutMaster via e-mail, phone or at the next Troop Meeting.

SUMMER CAMP 2008 SIGNUPS OVERDUE!! Signups for Summer Camp 2008 with Troop 2 at Camp Resolute were due Thursday, April 17th!! If a Scout still wishes to attend camp, he may do so. Any non-Crossover Scout who registers for Summer Camp from this point will be charged the regular registration rate of $320. Siblings are charged a "Brother Fee" of $230 each. New Webelo Crossover Scouts do not need to adhere to this deadline. Crossover Scouts get the early bird rate through Thursday, June 5th. For more information on Summer Camp 2008, click here.

NEXT MEETING Thursday, May 8th, 2008

Troop meetings are held each Thursday evening in the club room at Milford Catholic School next to our Sponsor, Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. The church is located at 5 East Main Street, Milford MA.

Meetings are held from 7 PM to 8:15 PM.

Junior Leadership is asked to meet at 6 PM to firm up plans for the night's meetings and to plan future meetings and Troop events.

The meeting room is also available for Scouting events/meetings (Merit Badges, etc.) from 6 PM to 7 PM. To book the room for any event or class, please contact the Scoutmaster for room availability.

NEWS / Announcements

• Troop 2 Court of Honor Rescheduled
  • The Troop 2 Court of Honor originally scheduled for Thursday, April 17th has been rescheduled.
  • The Court of Honor will now be held on Thursday, May 15th.
  • Please stay tuned for more information regarding preparations.
• NEW Troop 2 Class B T-Shirts
  • Troop 2 has a newly designed Troop 2 Class 'B' T-shirt ("BLUE" design) available in adult sizes S, M, L, XL, XXL, XXXL
  • Cost for each shirt is $5 (Troop cost)
  • Also available are the previous "RED" design Class 'B's
    • T-Shirt: $5
    • Golf Shirt: $7
    • Sweatshirt: $10
    • Hooded Sweatshirt: $12
  • Troop 2 Hats are also still available at a cost of $10
• Future Committee Meetings:
  • Starting in April, the Troop Committee Meetings have been held at 7 PM in the Cafeteria at Milford Catholic, right across the hall from the Troop Meeting.
  • The Committee decided upon this for multiple reasons;
    • To keep meetings from running later into the night, especially Thursday being a weeknight/school night
    • Increase attendance of adult leaders/committee members that can not make later meetings
    • Increase participation of parents at the meetings
  • As always, all registered adults and parents are welcome to attend!

Troop 2 Events

• Spring Camporee: May 2nd through May 4th
  • Troop 2 will be participating in the Spring Scouting Camporee at Hopkinton State Park
  • Arrival Information:
    • Drop off is Friday at 6:30 PM
    • Hopkinton State Park Directions to Main Gate Entrance
      Rte. I-495 (north or south) to exit 21A, Main Street Hopkinton.
    • Travel on Main Street until the third traffic light located at the heart of downtown Hopkinton.
    • Turn left, traveling North on Route 85.
    • Proceed approximately 2 miles to the Hopkinton State Park entrance on the right (do
      not enter the Field Office on the left).
    • Once in the park go to the Split Rock picnic area.
  • Things to remember, pack the following
    • rain gear
    • camp chair
    • mess kits
    • water bottle
    • Scout Handbook
    • everything else you will need.
      
  • Pickup Information: Pick up is Sunday at 10:30 AM
  Milford Town Camporee: Memorial Day Weekend
  • Troop 2 will be participating in the Town of Milford's Scouting Camporee at
  • Arrival Information: TBA
  • Pickup Information: TBA
• Annual Troop 2 Memorial Day Events:
  • Troop 2 will again be particpating in the Milford Area Memorial Day Events. See below for more details on each activity
  • Cemetary Flagging: Saturday, May 24th, 2008
    • Local Scouts will be meeting to flag the graves of Veterans in our Milford area cemetaries.
    • Scouts are to meet Saturday morning at TBA
  • Memorial Day Parade: Monday, May 26th, 2008
    • Troop 2 will again be participating in the Milford Memorial Day Parade.
    • Scouts are to meet in the Stop n' Shop parking area at TBA.
    • Step off for the Parade is at TBA
    • The Parade will continue down Main Street to Draper Park for a closing ceremony.
    • Parents may march with the Troop or pickup their Scout at Draper Park after the conclusion of the parade.
  • Memorial Day Veteran's Luncheon: Monday, May 26th, 2008
    • Troop 2 will be hosting their annual Veteran's Luncheon at the Italian American's Veteran's Club on Hayward Field road.
    • Scouts will be asked to volunteer for setup, serving and clean up after the luncheon.
    • Setup: volunteers should arrive at the ITAM club at TBA
    • Servers: volunteers should arrive at the club after the conclusion of the Memorial Day parade
    • Clean up: volunteers will be cleaning after the luncheon and should expect to be completed about 1:30 PM.
    • VETERANS:
      • If you are a local veteran and would like to attend the luncheon, you may contact our Scoutmaster via email and advise him of your name and the number of people attending with your party.
      • The luncheon is on Memorial Day after the conclusion of the Milford Memorial Day parade.
      • Expected start time is 12 noon.

• White Water Rafting: Sunday, June 22nd
  • Troop 2 will be returning this year to the Deerfield River for White Water Rafting with Crab Apple White Water, Inc.
  • Sign-up for this event is due: Thursday, April 3rd on a first-come first-serve basis!
  • Dropoff Information: Sunday, June 22nd TBA, Sacred Heart Parking Lot
  • Pickup Information: Sunday, June 22nd TBA, Sacred Heart Parking Lot
  • Cost for the Fife Brook run is $63
    • All Scouts are eligible
    • Includes riverside picnic
  • Cost for the advanced Monroe Bridge Run is $82
    • Only Scouts that attended last year are eligible
    • Scouts Must be 15 years old
    • Includes steak/chicken/fish barbeque
