The adult leaders, junior leadership and I arrived at camp between 7 AM and 8 AM to begin getting the site ready this morning. All went well and by 10:30 we were finished. Found we have one bad set of white garage pipes and both of the silver garage canopies need to be replaced. But other than that we had no issues.

Mr. Fitzgerald brought us all out some Subway sandwiches for lunch which we downed in time to go to the parking lot to meet the arriving Scouts and their parents. Then it was the opening march into camp with our buddy Robbie, unpacking and setting up tents, saying hello to bunkmates and friends, and the beloved Medical check line.

Well, signing off for the week... yes THE WEEK. Your news from camp this year will be supplied by our own Ian M., our "Jr. Webmaster." He will be supplying the news as our blogging reporter from camp this year!

Over to you Ian!

Here I am... blogging from camp.

The Junior Leadership are sitting in our tent, eating cheese balls from John F's vessel. We went through the annual first day procedures today without too much trouble, but the sunny 95 degree day inspired several cases of heatstroke in camp. I personally thought the weather was beautiful, I enjoy sweating... and blogging.

We went around to the various areas of camp and received safety demonstrations and guidelines. We had the opening parade, a formal retreat of the colors, dinner and attended the opening campfire. It was then the best part of summer camp began, chillin' in camp until bed time.

Just a few minutes before lights out, Ian M., Troop 2 Webmaster, signing off.

Dinner: Pizza and bread sticks, cookies for dessert

On our second day things are picking up. The first real day of classes, everybody began to get into their weekly routines. The weather was also nicer, however it was just as humid.

Highlights of the day, aside from blogging nightly, were the MLB dinner and the Resolute Olympics. At the former, Scouts all dressed in sports attire for dinner. During the latter, patrols roamed the camp and competed against each other in olympic themed competitions.

In addition, Troop 2 challenged Troop 4 Milford to an impromptu arm wrestling tournament, the details of which will be worked out later. The Junior Leadership assures the public that victory WILL be achieved, whatever the formal rules may be.

Everybody in camp is also beginning to gear up for the Apache Relay and the Little Pond Triathlon coming later in the week.

Once again, minutes before lights out, I am Ian M., Official Amateur Webmaster signing off.

One Scout caught a fish in the amphitheater, we went on free boat with the Troop and most of us went canoeing. We also had our Merit badge classes today. They were fun!

We went on a Troop swim, saw turtles in the pond and Ben S. caught a bass from the pond. One of the campers got his jitterbug lure back out of the tree that "ate" it.

At night we had Camp Vespers and Pizza night in camp.

All in all it was a good day and tomorrow will be even better.

Breakfast: Raisin biscuits, Apple Juice, French Toast fingers, sliced ham
Lunch:Salad bar, mac n' cheese, hot dogs, veggie sticks, watermelon
Dinner: Salad bar, teriyaki chicken, fried rice, stir fried veggies, brownies

Today was yet another warm day. It was about 98 degrees in camp and humid all day. Fortunately the weekly Aquatics meet took place in the evening. The Aquatics meet is a competition consisting of several different relay races related to the waterfront.

Troop 2 did not participate however opting instead to work most of the night on the advancement needs of our newer Scouts. The effort paid off; there were several boards of review this evening for ranks of Tenderfoot to Life. It looks like most, if not all of our newer Scouts will reach the rank of Tenderfoot at camp this week!

We also learned that the Apache Relay races, traditionally held every Thursday night at camp will be rescheduled for 8 AM Thursday due to the extreme weather concerns.

Order of the Arrow night was also tonight, ending with a big ice cream social for all Arrowmen.

With the altered scheduled Thursday, tomorrow will certainly be a busy day. Between finishing Merit Badges and the Apache, everybody will have something to do.

I am Ian M., Troop 2's Official amateur blogging webmaster, signing off.

Breakfast:
Lunch: Burgers
Dinner: Turkey, Mashed Potatoes, Green Beans, Gravy

Thursday was a bit of a weird day.

It was supposed to be the hottest day of the week, so it only made sense to move the Apache relay from 7 at night to just after breakfast. Or, so it seemed to the camp leaders. It threw off the whole mood of the race, and spoiled anything dramatic about all of the building-up the staff had done to the event. Many people likely did not care, but in the opinion of a veteran camper they threw off the whole formula!

Troop 2 came in first in the heat and second place over all by a few seconds, which is not bad by a long shot. Next year we should more or less have it in the bag!

The order of the merit badge classes was also switched to accommodate the Apache, and it was the Wilderness Survival class' night to sleep in the woods!

All in all a pretty busy day though, signing out until tomorrow!

The final day was possibly the longest, with almost all activities after lunch canceled due to the 100 degree heat. The waterfront was the only area open, and swimming was literally the only activity. At around 1:30 however, somebody was slightly injured in a tag accident underwater, causing the waterfront in its entirety to be closed. Needless to say, almost everybody was sweaty and unhappy most of the day.

There was no court of Honor this year due to a change in the camp's system of filing information, but the annual barbecue went on as usual. At the end of the night everybody attended the closing campfire ceremony, which made a fine end to a good week.
